2018 0214 - M.W.G.M. Victor Stone Visit

At a regular communication of Mt. Vernon Lodge, the Most Worshipful Grand Master Victor Stone and Worshipful Grand Junior Steward Devin Grandchamp stopped by to join us for our pot luck supper and regular meeting.  Also in attendance was Worshipful Brad Limoge dressed in his Civil War uniform who presented his talk on Masonry during that troubling time and the unbreakable chains of brotherhood that endured it.  Most Worshipful Stone spoke of the proposed changes to the annual meetings the Grand Lodge is hoping make and regaled the Brothers present with his recounting of his recent trip to England to attend the 300th Anniversary of the United Grand Lodge of England.  (Check out the links below)

Mt. Vernon's new members with old Masonic ties

August 13, 2014, Mt Vernon Lodge No. 8 Morrisville, VT.  Brothers Konnor Newton and Trevor Newton, both of Morrisville, graduates of Peoples Academy, Eagle Scouts, members of the Boy Scouts of America’s Honor Society, The Order of the Arrow and now the 8th generation of Lamoille County Newton men to become Freemasons of Mt. Vernon Lodge No. 8.  Their 5th great-grandfather Sewell Newton’s name was on the original Charter dated, October 12, 1813.  Their father, Kevin Newton and grandfather, Allen Newton, both Past Masters of Mt. Vernon, couldn’t have been more proud to preside over and conduct their degree work.  Their maternal great-grandfather Jack S. White was a Past Master of Mt. Vernon and Right Worshipful District Deputy of the 13th Masonic District.  His father Morris B. White was also Past Master and secretary of Mt. Vernon.

WM David McAllister presents two very special certificates



Wednesday, May 14, 2014 - At the regular May meeting of Mt. Vernon Lodge No. 8, Worshipful Master David McAllister presented two very special certificates.

The first to Past Master Malcolm Teale along with a Past Master's pin in recognition of his hard work and dedication to the Lodge and members as he served as Worshipful Master from 2012-2014.


The second to Brother Everett Dickinson who was raised in Green Mountain Lodge No. 68 in Cabot on May 31, 1966. He later affiliated with Dorchester Lodge No. 1 in Vergennes in 1976 where he served as Worshipful Master from 1981-1982. In 1987 he affiliated with Mt. Vernon Lodge No. 8 in Morrisville. From 2007-2009 he served as District Deputy Grand Master for the 13th Masonic District of the State of Vermont. Most importantly, for Mt. Vernon, he served as Secretary for 24 years. From 1990-2014, Brother Everett cheerfully executed the duties entrusted to him along with countless others. His affiliation with the York and Scottish Rite bodies, his love of the craft and for his brethren defines him as one of the supporting pillars of our beloved fraternity.

Entered Apprentice Scouter Degree Yields "Triple Brothers"

Wednesday, May 14, 2014 Green Mountain Council Freemasons worked the Entered Apprentice Scouter Degree on Eagle Scouts and "triple" brothers, Konnor Newton and Trevor Newton of Morrisville at Mt. Vernon Lodge No. 8 in Morrisville.  "Triple" brothers in that they were born brothers, they are brothers in the Boy Scouts of America's National Honor Society - Order of the Arrow and now brothers in Freemasonry.  Their father Kevin Newton and Grandfather Allen Newton, both Past Masters of Mt. Vernon, could not have been more proud.  The boy's 5th Great-grandfather Sewell Newton's name is on the Lodge Charter (seen hanging on the wall in the pictures above).  Did he ever imagine that seven generations later, his Great, Great, Great, Great, Great-grandsons would be invested with the Lambskin in his own precious Lodge?  The Scouter Degree Team consisted of; WM - Kevin Newton, SW - Dave McAllister, JW - Dave Schuler, SD - Sandy Karstens, JD - Richard Matheson, Chap - Tim Collins, SS - Jon Hosford, JS - Isaac Merriam.  Members of Mt. Vernon helped fill in, Secy - Allen Newton, Mar - Emil Swift and Tyler - David Coffey
